New Closet: The Accessory Edition—Shoes
Now that you’ve edited your clothes thoroughouly, you might think your closet’s palette has gone from wildly colorful to stark bland. Fear not! There’s a solution to splash a little color to your classic blacks, whites and neutrals.
They’re called accessories and they can be tricky.
You can either use accessories to punctuate an outfit with the right colored shoes or a bold piece of jewelry, or you can build an entire ensemble around an interesting shawl. It all depends on what you’re aiming for…and your mood, of course.
So, let’s start of with something simple: A Basic Pair of Black Pumps and Flats
Preferably a pair—and this applies to both the heels and the flats—that you can dress up for eveningwear if need be. A pair that is simple in design and timeless in style. Something you can wear to work but also kinky enough to walk about town.
Every fashionista’s closet needs to have one pair of basic black heels and one pair of black flats. Both pairs of shoes need to be comfortable to wear. Be whatever style, heel height or design, as long as you can walk in the m. And again invest in a quality pair. Classic pieces such as these never go out of style. Take good care of them and they will be good to your wardrobe and your dainty feet.
Ace’s Note: Ladies, you’ve seen women who walk in heels and are in p ain, all for the sake of style. It’s hard to watch and it’s just not pretty. Being graceful and confident is way more sexy and fashionable.

New Year, New Closet: The Essentials Part II
We continue our quest into the New Year with a new outlook, not just for closet but for yourself. Sometimes clothes can do wonders for your confidence and attitude as you greet the day ahead. Fashion, can be akin to uniform as you battle through and trouble shoot what life throws at you. Face those challenges with right armor-intimidate it with your chicness and take it down with a submission. Which brings us to:
5) A Blazer:
Ace’s Note: Again, the key here is fit. For Fashionistas on a budget, when purchasing a blazer, make sure it’s a style that lends itself to transition easily from day time to evening wear (much like the Basic Black Dress.)
6) A Cashmere Sweater:
Ace’s Note: A black cashmere sweater would be the best, Since Black is the still the new Black and because it goes with everything.
7) A Comfortable Alternative to Sweat Suit:
Ace’s Note: I’m not sure if Yoga pants would apply as an appropriate substitute, but I think those Juicy Couture sweat suits are a no-no. I know it can be hard to get the energy to pull on a pair of jeans when you’re already warm and toasty in your house clothes, but you know the minute you step out of your home you’ll come across people you’re not in the mood to see. Learn from these lessons. Dress well. Even when you’re going down the street to buy milk.
8) A Day Dress:
Ace’s Note: Last but not least, a simple dress you can wear during the day. Age-appropriate and form fitting is a must but the aesthetics is completely up to you. Be it a bright bold color, a pretty print or a basic neutral tone. As long as the dress is comfortable and suits its function, you’ll be set!
And there you have it! Your 8 Essentials for the Year! Before I conclude this post completely, I do have one final note: if you’re intent on revamping your style and this is your starting point, please, I beg of you, spend a few more dollars and buy items that are well-made. Above all, take good care of them. If they need to be dry cleaned, please take them to the dry cleaners. These are worthwhile investments that if purchased right can last you up to 5-10 years or even more. Take care in buying the right article and take the same amount of care as keeping them clean.
Go Forth and Be Fabulous!
